SPRING WEDDING OF CATIE AND BRENDAN

“From Beginning to End” by Robert Fulghum

…”From that moment of yes to this moment of yes, indeed, you have been making promises and agreements in an informal way. All those conversations that were held riding in a car or over a meal or during long walks—all those sentences that began with “When we’re married” and continued with “I will and you will and we will”—those late night talks that included “someday” and “somehow” and “maybe”—and all those promises that are unspoken matters of the heart. All these common things, and more, are the real process of a wedding. The symbolic vows that you are about to make are a way of saying to one another, “You know all those things we’ve promised and hoped and dreamed—well, I meant it all, every word.”

The Story

Branden and I met in high school. Freshman year I asked him to the turnabout dance. We are happy to call ourselves high school sweethearts. We continued dating throughout college even though we attended different schools in different states. After eight years of dating, Branden gathered our friends and family at Dry City Brewery (we love breweries) in Wheaton and popped the question! It was a total surprise! We got married 5 months before what would have been our 10th dating anniversary.

Style

My wedding style was majorly influenced by all the wonders found on Pinterest. I actually had trouble really narrowing down what style of wedding I wanted. In the end Branden and I are very relaxed people so our wedding ended up having a simple yet elegant flair. Our colors were navy and blush.

Advice

While it wasn’t my lifetime goal to get married at a golf course it really was a blast! Branden and I loved getting to drive a golf cart through the course and have pictures taken. It was such a fun and random experience to have on a wedding day. It also gave use some time to just be with each other.

Planning

To start…The Knot app.  As we got closer to the big day we also enlisted the help of JPB Designs.  Stephanie Pepper was an awesome ‘day of’ planner to work with!  She made the day run so smoothly.

Details

Is it corny to say my maid and matron of honor were my favorite details? Those girls made me feel like a princess. They kept the whole bridal party in line and made sure my day was perfect and that Branden and I were happy.
